   Unit 1:

• Understanding the roles and responsibilities of the first aider

• Assessing emergency situations safely

• Providing first aid to an unresponsive casualty

• Providing first aid to a choking casualty

• Providing first aid to a casualty with external bleeding

• Providing first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock

• Providing first aid to a casualty with minor injuries

• Conducting a secondary survey

• Casualties with suspected injuries to bones, muscles, and joints

• Head and spinal injuries

• Chest injuries

• Burns and scalds

• Eye injuries

• Suspected poisoning

• Anaphylaxis

• Major illnesses: Asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, stroke, heart attacks etc
